Enea Bastianini struggled in the sprint race and hopes to find solutions to the various problems he is facing for tomorrow's race.
Like all KTM riders, Enea Bastianini is struggling this weekend at the Silverstone circuit. Since the start of the season, he has needed more time than the other representatives of the Austrian manufacturer to find his feet on each track. After two more complicated days, he generally manages to turn things around on Sunday.
But this weekend in England, the orange clan is really behind the others, and the situation is all the more frustrating to live with for bastianini that he won each of the two races last year, riding the Ducati. This year, he has to accept starting from scratch and rebuilding everything, which is far from easy.
Qualifying in 17th place this Saturday, he made a good start in the sprint race and managed to move up to 13th position on the first lap, before being overtaken and finishing the first lap in 15th place.
Quickly overtaken by Franco Morbidelli, he nevertheless benefited from Brad Binder's fall and thus maintained his 15th position. He then remained in the race and took the checkered flag in the same position, without scoring any points since only the top nine finishers receive them in the sprint race.
"The day was quite difficult, because it's a bit frustrating to compare my times this year to those of last year, on the same track.", did he declare. "When we started this morning, we felt something on the bike, the tires were wearing quickly, so we tried to change things and it was better. We gave it our all in qualifying but unfortunately it's not enough right now to get through to Q2."
"In the sprint race, we suffered a lot from rear grip. After three laps, the tire wore down a lot, which was strange. The wind strength wasn't easy to manage either, but in any case, we have to look carefully at all these problems tonight and arrive tomorrow with better solutions."
