Alex Marquez Jerez

Alex Márquez acknowledges that his brother Marc knows how to make the difference in the hot track conditions, and expects another management race tomorrow.

And 5 out of 5 for Alex Marquez ! The Gresini driver finished in second position in the sprint race of the Spanish Grand Prix, as he has in every sprint race since the start of the season. However, this one had a special flavor for him, as he was not fully confident before the start.

Indeed, while he set the fastest time in each session yesterday, even setting the track record at that time (it has since been beaten in qualifying), he also made two mistakes, and his fall at the start of Practice completely affected his session. However, this session was fundamental for preparing for the races since it took place in the same conditions in the afternoon.

With less hot running time than the others, Alex Marquez admits that he didn't really know what to expect from this sprint race, and yet he once again took second place behind his brother Marc.

"I started the race without much conviction. I think that not having ridden yesterday afternoon meant that I didn't feel prepared for the sprint race. And then, above all, I don't feel good with the soft front tire. It was a race of management, and I think tomorrow will be the same, so we'll have to get off to a good start, attack well in the first three corners and, from there, try to be strong until the end.", he told Motosan.

It's difficult to imagine victory given the form displayed by Marc, who particularly made the difference in these hot conditions and in the left turns according to álex. "[It's played out in] the three or four corners that always happen, the left ones. We get closer in turns 11 and 12, personally I take them well, we arrive in the first three corners with a bit of hope, and in the fourth, I insulted him under the helmet today because I tried everything to take it like him, and also turns seven and eight, but there was no way."he said.

"With the soft tire, we're very much at the limit at the front and he manages to have everything under control when he loses the front. We don't. And, above all, when the track conditions are warmer and there's less grip, he manages to be just as fast. Conversely, we and the rest of the field drop a little, maybe a tenth or half a tenth, but he manages to have the same pace as in the morning [when it's cooler]."
