Fabio Di Giannantonio Jerez

Slowed down in the sprint race by vibrations on his Ducati, Fabio Di Giannantonio hopes to rectify the situation in order to be able to aim for the podium tomorrow.

After losing time in FP1 yesterday due to tests carried out on his Ducati which did not give the expected result, Fabio Di Giannantonio had finished the first day slightly frustrated. Although he had automatically earned his passage into Q2 by setting the ninth fastest time in Practice, he had not been able to work on his usual setup and the various tire tests in preparation for the two races. This was essential work in the very hot conditions of the afternoon.

Seventh in FP2 this morning, he had a good qualifying session, setting the eighth fastest time, two tenths behind his teammate Franco Morbidelli, who qualified in the top five. Things got a little more complicated in the sprint race, as he suffered vibrations on his machine, which prevented him from being as fast as he had hoped.

By Giannantonio still managed to save his sixth place, despite Maverick Viñales' comeback behind him, but hopes to move up a gear tomorrow in the main race, as he believes he has the pace to fight at the front.

"Today we had some vibrations at the rear that we didn't expect, and the last five laps of the sprint race were very tough.", he explained. "I had a good start and was faster than the rider in front of me, but it was difficult to overtake him. We have to work for tomorrow to try to recover places. Sixth place today is a good result, but it's not our goal because we have the potential to fight for the podium. We're not that far away. I'll try to be among the top tomorrow."
