The Italian was rescued and then evacuated on a stretcher. Fortunately, we saw him conscious, which was reassuring. An initial check at the medical center revealed no injuries, but the Italian decided not to resume the race due to severe pain.
Will Aprilia call on Dovizioso?
A new examination took place, revealing that Savadori had broken an ankle in the accident which had caused a red flag. The Italian will now undergo surgery and is targeting a return to MotoGP racing at Silverstone.
We still don't know if Aprilia will replace its driver at the next race at Spielberg. According to the regulations, the manufacturer is not obliged to compete with a replacement until Silverstone. If Aprilia decided to compete again with two motorcycles next Sunday, Andrea Dovizioso could have a chance to return to a route that has always smiled on him, but with a Ducati.
