Rain spoiled the start of the first day of the Superbike/MotoGP 24 test at Jerez, but it was enough to pique our interest…

At 12:30 p.m., just two and a half hours after the start, the drivers were forced to return to the pits. However, this aperitif already offers us some rather interesting facets.

The first: love at first sight seems to have taken place between Jonathan Rhea and the Yamaha R1.

The second : Andrea Iannone, after four years off, has not at all forgotten how to ride a racing motorcycle at the limit. Against all odds, the former MotoGP rider is already quite fast, even with the hardest tire available, the SC0, which no one used during the weekend.

All this needs to be confirmed during these two days of testing but what intrigued us the most was the MotoGP which slipped into the middle of the Superbikes thanks to their test riders, Michele Pirro (Dozens), Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia) and Stefan bradl (Honda). The latter has two RC213V 2024, designated by SB T22 and SB V on the live timing.

However, if one seems quite conventional and in line with the motorcycles already seen many times, the other can only raise questions! Not externally, but at the sound level, with a completely different noise from what we have always heard since the Tokyo V4 went to the quasi Big Bang. There, it's simple, it looks like the bike equipped with a KERS when it approaches the turns, with a very high-pitched and almost electronic noise.

Obviously, this is not a KERS, since it is prohibited, but it is obvious that Honda is testing something very new for its 2024 motorcycle.

We will try to find out more…
