KTM has announced a promising new team for next season, pairing Enea Bastianini and Maverick Viñales at Tech3. Both riders will benefit from the same machines as the factory team, made up of Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta. Despite this, KTM's performance against the dominant Ducati remains a cause for concern.
Sylvain Guintoli highlighted the current challenges of KTM : " for now, there is no solution. There is a restructuring, technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini is about to leave. They didn't renew it » Guintoli added that, unlike Ducati et Aprilia who continue to progress, KTM struggles to find his rhythm on most circuits.
Neil Hodgson also commented on crash.net the difficulties encountered by KTM : " I spoke to the pilots. The problem is that it's not just one key area, like braking stability or electronics. It's a little bit of everything that makes the puzzle even harder to solve. These are details. We're talking about 0,2 or 0,3 seconds, maybe. But finding this is huge, it's not a simple solution »
« KTM is so serious about winning at this level that they will give everything to achieve it »
Despite these challenges, Hodgson remains optimistic about the resolve of KTM : " KTM is so serious about winning at this level that they will give everything to achieve it. They have a very good team for next year, they have the right drivers and they must produce the right motorcycle for them »
Even Peter Acosta, the talented young rookie, experienced a drop in performance during the last few races. After podiums in Portugal and America, he failed to threaten the favorites in the last two events. Guintoli has explained : " Acosta jumped on this bike and, even in winter testing, he was able to go super fast. He felt comfortable with the front of the bike. During the first GPs, he made the difference and put pressure on Binder and Jack Miller. Since then, he has had a few setbacks and a few accidents »
KTM is preparing for a 2025 season with a promising new rider duo and increased technical support. However, technical and structural challenges persist, and the capacity to KTM to compete with the Ducati dominant remains uncertain. The next few months will be crucial for the team as they work to overcome these obstacles and improve their performance on the track.
