Taka Nakagami

Taka Nakagami continues to pay for his spirit of sacrifice which led him to participate in the integrity of his Japanese Grand Prix beyond all reason. Too great an effort demanded from the handlebars of the merciless MotoGP on his right hand whose ring and little fingers had been operated on a few days earlier, after his fall following a collision with Marc Marquez at the start of the Aragon Grand Prix. The damage caused to Motegi led to him going under the knife again, but this time with a much longer recovery time. Following the recommendations of doctors, Takaaki Nakagami will miss the 18th round of the World Championship MotoGP 2022 at Phillip Island in Australia. Tetsuta nagashima will once again replace his compatriot while Taka recovers from the operation he underwent after the Japanese Grand Prix.

Despite an unfortunate crash at the Aragon Grand Prix last month, Nakagami honored its national meeting at Motegi. However, due to the condition of his hand injury after the race, it was decided that he needed to undergo another operation which consisted of a skin graft to help close the wounds on his 4th and 5th fingers.

Nakagami missed the drunken party in Buriram and spent several days convalescing at Chiba University Hospital. After passing his medical examination this morning, he confirmed to the LCR Honda IDEMITSU team director, Lucio Cecchinello, that he would not participate in the Australian Grand Prix this week-end. He hopes to be able to return to competition at next week's Malaysian Grand Prix, but will have to undergo another medical examination with a specialist next Monday. Only after this notice will he then decide whether it is possible to race at Sepang

Takaaki Nakagami commented on this situation: “ after the Japanese Grand Prix I had another surgery on my fingers and they are getting better day by day, but it's still a little difficult for me to grasp certain objects. I feel good, I don't feel any pain but the doctor recommended to rest for at least two more weeks, which means I will miss the Australian Grand Prix ».

He finishes : " Next Monday I have another medical check-up to remove the stitches and then we will decide if I can race in Malaysia. In the meantime, I wish Nagashima san and my team all the best in Phillip Island ". The test driver Honda finished 22nd in the rainy Buriram race. It will be recalled that at Phillip Island, in the stand Suzuki, we will experience an opposite situation with a Joan mir who will try to get back on his GSX-RR.
