The engine of the Honda RC213V version 2019 is making a lot of talk in the HRC clan. And for good reason: apart from Marc Márquez, no one can really deal with him. Its greater power than the previous one has upset a hitherto precarious balance which disturbs the pilots, always with the exception of one. And it is this exception that makes the rule. Project manager Takeao Yokahama wants to be clear on the subject, thus finding in Marc Márquez the answer to all the criticisms while referring their authors to their dear studies. In 2020, however, an effort will be made to find conviviality in this beastly opus…

In the opinion of many, if there were not Marc Márquez, Honda will be far from the mark with an RC213V of impossible character. But the Japanese only look at the facts: with the exception of the 2019 United States Grand Prix, Marc Márquez finished all races in first or second position, a consistency that allowed the Cervera rider to revalidate his title in the MotoGP category before the end of the season. A result which does not prevent him from continuing to win. In Australia, he took his eleventh success of the year. And he intends to continue like this in Malaysia this weekend as well as in Valencia to put an end to it.

Takao Yokohama who is the brainchild of the project Honda in Grand Prix explains this paradox as follows: “ Honestly, Marc Márquez's driving style has changed a lot. In the winter we tried to give it as much power as possible because we knew we had the best driver in the world. If you don't have the power in the middle of the straight, you can't do anything. Even the best pilot in the world can't do anything. This is the point we tried to improve. We focused on that, knowing that other problems would arise »

He continues on crash.net: “ we said, 'OK, problems are going to happen, but he's the best driver and maybe he can handle them. As engineers we can predict something, and suddenly a person from a planet different from any known one appears, gets on the motorcycle and does something that we did not expect »

A true tribute, but nevertheless, the time has come to smooth things over to help others: “ Marc is doing better than expected. But of course, by 2020 we will try to recover what we lost with the engine change this year. This is our goal. I hope next season's bike will be a little easier to ride for all Honda riders. » Good news for Jorge Lorenzo ?
