Exclusive interview with Davide Tardozzi, Ducati team manager, about the future of Casey Stoner, the proposal to modify the GP schedules by Yamaha and the qualities of the Ducati.

The Ducati Desmosedici of Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo are standing out this year, and especially in this second part of the MotoGP Championship. In Aragon, Marc Márquez interrupted the positive momentum of the Reds, but the two Borgo Panigale representatives can now claim victory everywhere and in all conditions. Currently, the proposal made by Yamaha to modify the departure time to avoid the Dunlop tire marks left by the Moto2 is being talked about. Ducati is against this idea. We talked about this and many other things with the team's team manager, Davide Tardozzi.

Yamaha would like to modify the Sunday program by anticipating or delaying the times of the Moto2 races. Would Ducati agree?
For us the schedules must remain as they are. We don't see the need to change. This is just an idea, I haven't heard of any official proposals, but in any case we don't see the need for it.

Michele Pirro concluded three days of testing. What did he work on?
Michele is always working on future projects and improvements to what we have. The GP19 is an evolution of the previous one and not a revolution. He only tested a few small new features, but nothing special.

Will Casey Stoner renew his contract with Ducati or will he say goodbye at the end of the year?
We still need to talk to Stoner. We haven't decided anything definitively yet but he has this desire to leave and stop being a test driver.

Are you bitter about Andrea Dovizioso's three clean results at Jerez, Le Mans and Barcelona?
There is obviously bitterness, but no blame towards the driver because Andrea made up for it. We are grateful for what he did last year and what he is doing this year as well. Sometimes we make mistakes, sometimes he does. At Jerez he was involved in a racing incident. For now there is no point looking back, we must move forward. What is certain is that he is very competitive, he will also be competitive next year and he will certainly play for the title again.

Is Ducati the most competitive bike in the category currently?
I find it difficult to say, because for me all motorcycles have their particularities with positive points and negative points. Clearly we have shown our strengths well now, but we still lack a little speed in changes of direction. But we have other particularities, like the engine, the brakes, the acceleration. There is always more and less in all motorcycles, there is no such thing as a perfect machine. There are times when one bike may seem better than others because the track and rider characteristics make certain points excellent. The talent of the pilots can also make it possible to manage the negative sides well while highlighting the positive sides. So I think every bike has its strong points and its weak points.
