The sentence comes from an Alberto Tebaldi who is not nothing in the entourage of a certain Valentino Rossi. He is even considered his right-hand man in all of his businesses, particularly those related to the VR46 label. He is therefore aware of his boss's intentions and the evolution of his team engaged in Moto3 and Moto2. But also in MotoGP with the two Yamahas soon Tech3 orphans ? A priori no, although...

Yamaha didn't think it would have to think about this question so quickly. But Iwata is there: what about his two satellite machines which are very useful for the good technical development of his official motorcycles without going through the box? Tech3 ? A project which was to open in 2021 at the earliest. Hervé Poncharal decided otherwise and forced the Japanese to consider the future without delay.

For many, the answer is obvious, fueled by a rumor that has been circulating for many months: instead of Tech3, this will be the logo VR46 that we will see on the fairings of these two Yamahas. An evidence ? Even! On GP One, Alberto Tebaldi, who does not speak so often and never without saying anything when he does, warns: “ VR46 is already involved in MotoGP with Valentino Rossi as a Yamaha factory rider. It's hard to imagine better. Of course, the news of Tech3's departure fueled the rumor. But for the moment, we have no plans to field a full team in MotoGP ».

He specifies : " When Valentino decides to stop competing, perhaps to go racing, then we will assess the situation. We know MotoGP very well, we know it is difficult to get to this level, and we would only do it if we were sure we could do it. Because it would not just be a question of participating ».

« Throughout history, we have seen champions build their teams. But that's not the plan at the moment. Yamaha wants Rossi in its official team and Valentino wants to continue working with this team. He enjoys being involved in a manufacturer's strategy, developing a motorcycle, talking with engineers to identify and resolve problems. None of this would be possible within a satellite structure ».

After blowing the cold, thereby indicating to Yamaha any requirements, it switches to hot: “ but we cannot deny that we like the idea. MotoGP is a dream for a rider but also a team. We could thus reach the end of a journey started in CEV. But we'll think about it when Vale is no longer a pilot. It would be a very ambitious project, but our boss taught us to dream ».

This is the situation that Yamaha is experiencing, recalling that, for the moment, Valentino Rossi has still not signed anything for the rest of his racing career…
