Brembo, “Braking Inspiration Partner” from MotoGP and supplier of the 22 riders of the premier class, renews its commitment with a new racing caliper presented at the EICMA 2024 in Milan and that MotoGP riders will be able to use from the 2025 season.
Born from the experience and passion for racing, the new caliper represents a major leap in braking technology. Thanks to a carefully studied design and the highest quality materials, this component is able to offer unprecedented performance, guaranteeing riders maximum safety and control in all conditions.
An oversized pad, capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures, ensures constant and powerful braking, even in the most critical situations. The increase in the braking surface, combined with an optimized contact pressure, allows for greater braking efficiency, allowing the rider to manage the bike with extreme precision. The increase in the exchange surface, in turn, promotes rapid heat evacuation, thus improving pad wear and ensuring consistent performance over time.
The wheelbase of the caliper and the foot attachment have been reinforced to provide greater rigidity and better resistance to the braking torque, thus improving stability and precision. Finally, the position of the bleeder has been studied to facilitate the bleeding and maintenance of the brakes as much as possible, allowing mechanics to work quickly and efficiently.
The eleven MotoGP teams will therefore have the opportunity to choose between continuing to use the GP4 caliper, present in the top category since 2020, or adopting the new caliper available from the 2025 season, depending on the specific needs and preferences of each rider.
Brembo reminds us that the caliper currently used by the teams in the premier class is the GP4. Made entirely of aluminium and featuring an efficient design, this 4-piston caliper has always offered high-level performance. The most important innovation of the GP4 is the presence of cooling fins that significantly improve the thermal efficiency of the entire braking system. Furthermore, the optimised hydraulics combined with the amplification guarantee a more precise and constant response to the brake lever, eliminating the spongy effect. In essence, in these four years of use, the GP4 (below) has been the symbol of a significant advance in terms of braking power, modulation and durability.
With the new racing caliper, Brembo continues its tradition of providing MotoGP riders with the confidence and control needed to perform at their best on every circuit on the calendar.
