The only representative of the Suzuki team on the Montmeló track on Monday due to the injury of Álex Rins during the Catalan GP the day before, Joan Mir worked a lot and did many laps to help the team find improvements before the next races. He finished the day in 12th position with a best time of 1'40.027.
The focus was on two new aerodynamic configurations which were subjected to comparative tests. Mir gave good feedback on both, and a decision will be made on which choice to make for the next races. He also worked on more general tuning and tuning options for his GSX-RR and felt an improvement in the front end when cornering.
Overall, the team is feeling optimistic after Joan Mir's large number of laps under the blazing sun, a total of 72, and the Hamamatsu men are generally happy with the direction of development.
Joan mir : " Today we mainly focused on understanding and improving corner entry, and I'm happy with the progress we've made. We still need to tweak them a bit more to make this even better, but it's nice to feel an improvement. The team worked a lot today, and we followed the program well. The new aero package options appeared positive and I'm looking forward to trying either one again in the next race. »

We had different elements to test, the most obvious being the two new aerodynamic fairings, and we will now check the data on these to see which of the two might be best to use. We showed today that we continue to implement new elements in accordance with the original test plan established at the beginning of 2022, and the fact that Suzuki is leaving does not change that. »
