He took 45 points in the last two Grands Prix which offered 50, and after his victory on Sunday in Catalonia, he has a lead of 22 units in the provisional general classification over his closest pursuer, Aleix Espargaró on theAprilia. During this ninth round of the championship, the Frenchman also extended his lease by two years with Yamaha where he is also the leader. The reigning World Champion is at the top of the MotoGP food chain and, as such, he reminds Iwata engineers of their roadmap for 2023…

« I tried two different settings, I tested the Michelin tires, I did comparative tests between the two swingarms we have. As for the fairing used by Morbidelli, on my side of the garage we decided to abandon it at Mugello: it was made to have more speed, but in a straight line it practically doesn't gain while it makes you lose elsewhere ».

Fabio Quartararo: “ you need power to overcome« 

And he insists: “ we continue to push for more power : it can change your performance. If you do everything perfectly you can win, but if you are struggling, for example in qualifying and you start behind, you need power to overcome the one in front. Look what Bagnaia did last year at Portimao: he was 11th, he moved up to second position. At Portimao2 2021, I was pulling behind and I could no longer recover. This is why we need more power ».

During this test, Morbidely et Olive tree fell, without seriousness while the points of interest were located at Ducati and Aprilia with new fairings. Luca marini liked this evolution on his GP22 to the point of asking for it for the next Grand Prix in Germany, which will not happen.
