George Martin

Things definitely turn very quickly in MotoGP, and Jorge Martin was able to see it in a single Sunday in Jerez, during the Spanish Grand Prix. It took a fall during the exciting Sunday competition, while he was leading the proceedings, for us to forget his triumph on Saturday and the fact that he is still at the top of the championship. The Martinator didn't even get a chance to be remembered by everyone during the Monday test due to a broken engine and another accident. Enough to be relieved to leave your Spanish lands and think about what comes next. His teammate Franco Morbidelli, for his part, left Jerez with a smile...

Let's start with Italian-Brazilian. After being away from preseason, Franco Morbidelli marked his strong comeback during the first MotoGP test since last November in Valencia. The pilot Bow Ducati, who surprised with a fourth place in the chaotic Spanish MotoGP sprint, had a productive day in Jerez, recording 82 turns during official tests on Monday.

Morbidely expressed his satisfaction after recording the third fastest time, just behind Maverick Vinales et Fabio di Giannantonio, with only 0,122 seconds delay. “ It was a great day. I am very happy to have been able to spend a whole full day with my team, fully concentrating on the tuning of the Desmosedici, " said Morbidely. “ I was impatiently waiting for this moment and I am really satisfied with the work accomplished, the speed we were able to achieve and the connection I felt with the motorcycle."

His teammate, George Martin, who also suffered a crash during Sunday's Grand Prix while leading the race, finished tenth with 71 tours to his credit. The day of Martin was punctuated by pitfalls, notably an engine failure in the morning which left him with only one motorcycle available, before falling without seriousness at turn 9 in the afternoon.

Martin however found positive points in this eventful practice session. “ We have improved our basic configuration. I was able to try a lot of things today, which is really rewarding,” Martin explained. “ I made a mistake at the end of the day while trying one of the new items; the wind has changed my trajectory, what made me fall. But finally, I am happy with my performance and I am satisfied with the work accomplished. We have solutions that have allowed us to be fast and consistent."

These tests were therefore an opportunity for the two pilots to Bow Ducati to get back in the saddle and fine-tune their settings for the next races, with a Morbidely particularly motivated and Martin resilient despite challenges.
