This last MotoGP test of the year, lasting 2 days on the Jerez circuit, will be the last treat to put in our mouths before a long period of abstinence of 2 months...

Consequently, just like yesterday, we will follow it and report it with particular attention thanks to our correspondents on site.

Practically speaking, this means that this article will be constantly updated throughout the session which will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 18:00 p.m., with all the information we will collect.

We don't promise you a thrilling session (MotoGP tests are often long and thankless before getting lively in the afternoon) but at least, if you want to know where we are at each moment, it's here let it happen!

The weather is expected to be a little less beautiful today, while it was optimal yesterday, which benefited Danilo Petrucci to beat the impressive time of Jonathan Rhea achieved in 1'38.713 during the WSBK test (see here)!

As a reminder, the circuit record in the MotoGP category still belongs to Cal Crutchlow who obtained pole position for the 2018 Spanish Grand Prix in 1'37.653, while Johann zarco was the fastest during the test carried out in May of the same year, in 1'37.730.

What we know before this second and final session:

  • Cal Crutchlow (LCR, injured), Michele Pirro (Dozens), Mika Kallio (KTM, injured), Randy de Puniet (KTM) and Jonas Folger (Yamaha) do not participate in these tests unlikeAlvaro Bautista (Dozens), Stefan Bradl (HRC), Sylvain Guintoli (Suzuki), Bradley Smith (Aprilia) and Matteo Baiocco (Aprilia).
  •  Alex Espargaro (Aprilia, sick) announced plans to try riding today. Andrea Dovizioso also but expressed a reservation following his fall yesterday which hurt his left hand.
  • With the exception of Ducati which has not communicated on the subject, all brands have new engines to validate, Honda and Yamaha even having two new different specifications. Honda is still working on a central air passage chassis, Ducati has “new ideas”, Yamaha is focusing exclusively on its engines, Suzuki on electronics, its new engine and a new chassis (without carbon), KTM will try a carbon swingarm to complement its new WP carbon fork, as well as work on aerodynamics, and Aprilia has small chassis modifications to validate.
  • Valentino Rossi who sounds the alarm, fabio quartararo in full progress, Johann zarco at work: find the complete reactions of most of the pilots on our site…

See you at 10:00 a.m.!

This article will no longer be updated (unless someone comes out in the last quarter of an hour, but hey…).

17h : Cal Crutchlow must be smiling from home since his record was not broken while the 2018 MotoGP year is now over, since no one is on the track anymore. Some pilots have already started their debriefing.
We will publish some reactions this evening, the others in the coming days, with exclusive interviews and technical points.

17:30 p.m.: Maverick Vinales is hungry: he lines up the tricks and is the one who has done the most (78)!
With him, they stayed on track Álvaro Bautista on a 2019 prototype and Sylvain Guintoli idem.
Given the temperature of the track, we can say that the 2018 MotoGP year is over…

17h : Six minutes before the last hour, Takaaki Nakagami achieves the best time in practice, in 1'37.945.
Jorge Lorenzo goes back to 4th. This time, there are 3 Hondas in the first 4…
Only Valentino Rossi, Alvaro Bautista et Johann zarco are on track at the moment. The temperature of the latter drops quickly…

16:30 p.m.: Marc Marquez achieves the best time of the day, 1'37.970 on his 53rd lap. This remains 2 thousandths of the best test time achieved by Danilo Petrucci here.
Franco Morbidelli hoists his Yamaha into 3rd position.

16h : With less than 2 hours of testing remaining before the MotoGP engines go silent until February, Danilo Petrucci comes close to the 1'37 mark in 1'38.109. Will his time from yesterday (1'37.968) be beaten? Still, the Italian rider did not miss his entry into the official Ducati team…

16:00 p.m.: Jack Miller and his system (see below) have just seized command…
Yesterday, the Ducatis impressed Valentino Rossi. For the moment, there are 3 in the top 4 today.

11:47 p.m.: Marc Marquez decided to spoil the party and put more than 1,3 seconds behind everyone in 5 laps: 1'38.452! Before a catch-up which he is used to….

16 motorcycles took to the track, but not yet the official Ducatis, nor the official Yamahas.

11h : fabio quartararo impresses with a 1'39.890 in his 4th lap whileAlvaro Bautista now leads the ranking in 1'39.821! Johann zarco came out...

11h : Boom! Jorge Lorenzo achieves 1'39.843 in his 4th flying lap. Its adaptation to the Honda is impressive. The track is at 22nd.
Johann zarco takes the track but returns without finishing his lap.

11:25 a.m.: Aleix Espargaro will eventually try to ride a development bike but, for the moment, it's Bradley Smith who is riding his motorcycle (and therefore the time currently displayed)…

… whereas Jack Miller recorded the first reference of the day in 1'40.226, in his 7th flying lap, then 1'39.856 in his 9th. The track is now at 21° and the others should not be long...

11:08 a.m.: Matteo Baiocco inaugurates the track aboard the Aprilia… As a reminder, he replaces the test pilot Bradley Smith on the development bike which replaces Alex Espargaro victim of gastroenteritis. First lap launched in 1'46.491.
Jack Miller also comes out...

11h : The track has just passed 19,5°. Jack Miller a bu son café au soleil 🙂  mais en “civil”. Personne ne chauffe encore les moteurs sauf une Honda…

10h : Still no activity on the track. The opportunity to see that the shoulder operation Michele Pirro (due to his crash at Mugello) went well, even if the Italian driver woke up in the middle of the night following it. No doubt he will watch the performanceAlvaro Bautista, who replaces him in Jerez, with attention…

10h : The meeting is open. It's 9° in the air and 15,4° on the track. The sky was a little cloudy this morning but cleared with a nice break from the sun. However, we don’t really expect to ride before 11:00…
