KTM

It was an expected moment and a symbolic step for rider Pedro Acosta as well as for his employer KTM, fans and observers. As part of the Moto3 and other Moto2 test day in Jerez, the aim was to have the Spanish hopeful, already Moto3 World Champion, ride the KTM RC16. An opportunity, for the rookie of the year in Moto2, with three victories and a final top 5 in the championship, to take his first steps on a MotoGP. But ultimately, it turned into a waste of time...

Precisely, it is because of the rainy weather occasionally dampening the Jerez route that Peter Acosta remained dry. Due to these conditions, KTM preferred not to take any risks. But for Acosta, nothing is lost. This wasted opportunity will ultimately only be a setback. The Spaniard thus steps back to jump better since the Mattighofen brand has promised its young champion that the game will be postponed until December, the date on which a new private test should be set up... If time permits...

KTM will also work in the wind tunnel

A postponed deadline which signals in passing that if the MotoGP season ended at the beginning of the month, the year is not yet over for the Red Bull KTM team. The Austrian manufacturer will thus be active in December, which the team director confirms Francesco Guidotti. Speaking on the site MotoGP, quoted by motosan.es, the manager explained the planned schedule for the coming weeks: “ there is a lot of work to be done. We will go to the wind tunnel and we have two tests planned in Jerez, one in November and the other in December ».

According to motosan.es, test riders Dani Pedrosa et Mika Kallio will be present during these tests. The idea of KTM will of course be to arrive as prepared as possible for the official tests of Sepang next February. The Mattighofen manufacturer places emphasis on improving results, particularly in terms of consistency and during qualifying phases, where the RC16 fails to get the most out of the new soft rubber, thus ending up more often that in turn on disadvantageous positions on the starting grid, and below its real potential, moreover widely demonstrated by the rises of Brad Binder racing this season.
