MotoGP, Jerez Test, Marc Marquez (Ducati/5): "I tried some parts that the factory riders already use"

Marc Marquez finished the final official tests in Jerez with optimism, after working intensively on the tuning of his Desmosedici GP23 and testing components for future Ducati GP24s. His performance earned him a fifth place, just two tenths behind the best time achieved by Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio.

« I spent the day working with two identical motorcycles to speed up the process with my technicians, " shared Marc Marquez. “ My comments were completely different from those from the tests in Malaysia and Qatar. Previously, I was not completely adapted to motorcycling, I had doubts. But now I have taken a big step forward, my feedback is very precise. It feels like night and day compared to before."

Marquez expressed his satisfaction with his growing familiarity with the Desmosedici: “ I understand this bike better now, and it allows us to really exploit its strengths. All doubts are dispelled and we know which direction to go."

« In Portimao, I understood where the limit was. I'm now in the final adaptation phase, and everything is focused on fine adjustments. The team should help me refine the details to eliminate my weaknesses without compromising my strengths,” added the Spanish driver.

In addition to refining its prototype, Marc Marquez also tested parts that Ducati developed for its official motorcycles. “ I tried some parts that factory riders already use. These are not so much gifts from Ducati, but rather components they want to test with different drivers to get various opinions."

Gigi Dall'Igna, Director of Ducati Corsica, even visited Marquez in his box to discuss the tests. “ Gigi and other Ducati technicians came to me to ask me to try some developments. It was a productive day. I am delighted to know that my feedback is in agreement with that of Pecco and Bastianini."
