11th during the MotoGP test day in Valencia, 16th after the three days of testing in Sepang, Johann zarco ends this first of the two days of testing in Portimão in a modest 13th position in a ranking dominated by the Ducati and the Aprilia.

But this situation seems to find its explanation in the double task to be accomplished by the Pramac pilot: Trying a multitude of elements in order to give his opinion on them, but also taking a step forward in piloting to get the last tenth, mainly as an entry turning.

In the end, at the end of the 57 laps completed, Johann zarco is just a second behind the leader Francis Bagnaia, and, still a bad point for the mind, he ended his day with a second fall, this time in sector 2, after a morning fall in sector 4 during his 27th lap.

Number five explains…

Johann zarco : " I started to lap quite well and I was surprised to be in a good rhythm and to set good times in the morning. Clearly, we've been working on things on the bike so we haven't really had time to perfectly set up the bike like we need to do to start the season. We are a test so we are here to try. I suffered two falls today, while trying to overcome a milestone in braking, in order to be stronger to prepare well for the race. I suffered a fall in the morning and then suffered another fall later in the afternoon. So it's a bit of a shame, because it's never fun to fall. But we're here to try, and so even then I've tried things because it helps to understand a lot of information. So we can be positive for today, and tomorrow, the last day of testing, we will try to put everything together, on everything we have tried since Sepang, in order to have a better performance and to be competitive. »

Asked about the elements tested, the French pilot remained evasive and consensual: “ There are always positives and negatives in everything, so we are all very similar at Ducati. The Pramac team is pretty much the first team after the factory team, so you have to do the work of trying things to give feedback. »
