The Aprilia rider is optimistic at the end of this final pre-season test, although he has reservations ahead of the first GP, in less than 15 days.

After a second day which started rather badly before ending better, Aleix Espargaro hoped to be able to carry out a race simulation today in order to end this last pre-season test in a positive way. The Spaniard therefore drove more than during the other days, completing 56 laps compared to 41 and 33, and finished in 13th place, however less than six tenths of the best time.

Despite youthful flaws, the RS-GP being brand new, he draws a positive assessment of these three days, although he maintains a certain reserve in attributing very great importance to the days which will now separate Aprilia from the first Grand Prix of year, on this same Qatar circuit, in less than two weeks now.

“These three days were intense”, he explained. “We didn't complete many laps, but we worked a lot, while also taking into account the inevitable disadvantages due to the youth of the RS-GP. Generally speaking, we confirmed on this track the potential that we had already seen in Malaysia. Especially today, during the race simulation where I managed to have a good rhythm, with a feeling that improved lap after lap. »

“Now we will have to be good over the next ten days in order to analyze the data well and make the right choices in order to develop a package that will allow us to be competitive from the first day of the Grand Prix. This is what Aprilia wants, what I want, and I am convinced that we will succeed. »
