After Miguel Oliveira and Iker Lecuona arrived in Malaysia last week and finished the three days of shakedown in a very positive manner, they began official testing at Sepang today, alongside the full complement of drivers on the grid. MotoGP 2020.

Miguel Oliveira took advantage of the 49 laps he completed to set a time of 2'00.131 minutes, the same pace as that of the Mattighofen test driver, Dani Pedrosa.

Meanwhile, Iker Lecuona, rookie of the premier category, managed to live up to his progress of the first days on the hot and humid Sepang international circuit, improving his best lap from Tuesday by 1.148 seconds, which allows him to conclude the first day with only 0.380 seconds behind his teammate.

Miguel Oliveira : “Today we started with ups and downs, with quite a few tests on the engine, but we were able to find a good feeling before the lunch break. We certainly lost time, but for the moment it is not important for us to set the best lap time. We ended the day with good feelings about a change we made on the electronics side. I'm quite happy with that and, above all, my pace was quite strong with the worn tires, so I think we still have a lot of room for improvement. Regardless, it was a positive day. »

Iker Lecuona : “The day was quite difficult due to the weather conditions. After lunch it started to rain and when it stopped it took a long time for the track to dry so we lost a lot of time and the track surface was no longer as good as it used to be. 'Before. But in the morning I managed to continue learning and reduce my lap time. I worked a lot with the team, especially on the bike settings. Overall I feel good, I've improved a lot, so I'm happy. Although the track conditions weren't ideal in the afternoon, I was able to try something I liked, so we'll continue from there tomorrow. »
