The Yamaha rider seems satisfied with the 1 M2020 for the moment, and hopes to confirm his good feelings during two race simulations tomorrow.

Like a metronome, Maverick Vinales finished this second day of testing in exactly the same place as yesterday, with an improvement of just a tenth. The Spaniard therefore finished in sixth position, just three tenths of the reference time established by Fabio Quartararo's Yamaha, and is the second rider to have completed the most laps on the track, with a total of 69.

The good feelings from the day before therefore continued, despite the large number of new elements and different configurations tested. “It went pretty well. I'm happy because I had a good feeling on the bike, and my pace seems to be very competitive”, commented number 12. “At the end of the day we made progress on some important things. We have understood many other things, and we are more ready for the Qatar race every day. »

“We improved a lot throughout the day, especially on the pace, and that was the most important thing for us at that moment. We have improved our top speed and we are at the same level as the other manufacturers. It is important. »

“I worked with the two 2020 bikes, looking for a better setup that was more comfortable and allowed for more confidence with the tires”, he explained to Mundo Deportivo. “I especially understood the latter, which are a little different this year. It's relatively important to understand them here and do a lot of tricks with them. The two bikes are virtually identical. We play around with the configurations so as not to waste too much time. »

After having regained his sensations and tried the new features of 2020, Viñales will try tomorrow to concentrate on his driving and on race simulations by completing two long runs: “I will try, it will be important for us. I'm going to try to do two because we want to test two different configurations for the race. I won't really focus on the clock. »
