The second day of the Sepang tests was marked by a new hierarchy. If Yamaha had dominated the first day with Fabio Quartararo, it was now Franco Morbidelli who won with his Ducati GP24. On the Aprilia side, the situation remains complicated after the injuries of Jorge Martin and Raul Fernandez.
The second day of the Sepang tests saw Franco Morbidelli dominate the debates, taking first position from the morning. The intense heat, with air temperatures reaching 34°C and asphalt rising to 57°C, added further difficulty for the riders, before the classic afternoon thunderstorm made its appearance. After a short break due to the showers, the bikes returned to the track for the final two hours of testing.
At Ducati, the falls marked the day. Francis Bagnaia had an accident in the morning, followed by Marc Marquez afternoon. These incidents somewhat spoiled the brand's driver schedule. However, it was possible to observe Michele Pirro testing the new aerodynamics of the GP25, with larger air intakes at the front and slightly modified rear spoilers, appearing larger compared to previous versions.
Honda continued to test different aerodynamic configurations, comparing bikes equipped with rear wings with smooth versions at the rear. These tests are part of the Japanese brand's development work to refine the bike before the start of the season.
Morbidelli dominates, Quartararo confirms at Sepang
At KTM, the day was difficult for Enea Bastianini, who remains the slowest driver in the team so far. Despite a good collective performance by Maverick Vinales, Brad Binder et Peter Acosta here, bastianini was unable to compete with his teammates today, confirming persistent difficulties.
fabio quartararo, still in good shape, continued to impress for Yamaha , occupying second place in the ranking. For its part, Johann zarco, in 12th position, remains the second best driver Honda, while most other drivers are struggling to fine-tune their settings.
With crashes, aerodynamic tests and continuous adjustments, this day of testing offered many lessons for the teams. The riders hope that the last day of testing will allow them to adapt even more to their machines and continue their preparation in good conditions, after a first day already marked by many injuries.
Maximum speeds so far today:
Morbidelli 339,6 km/h
Mark 339,6 km/h
