The Suzuki rider was one of the fastest riders in the Sepang test, although he still lacked a little something to move consistently at the front. After numerous positive tests, he hopes to take a new step at Losail, during the next test which will be held there from February 22 to 24.

With a final 11th place, Joan mir carried out good first tests in 2020 and made progress on several elements. First ninth on the first day, he then concluded the second day in fourth position, only a tenth behind Fabio Quartararo, the fastest on the track. If he then finished tenth today, it was mainly because Suzuki ended his test day relatively early, and the Spaniard therefore did not launch for a final time attack.

Last year, he finished this same test in 15th position and with one second more. The 2019 rookie's progress is therefore notable, but that did not prevent him from dedicating a large part of his first day to working on his position on the bike, which allowed him to feel “better and more comfortable. » He then tested a new chassis and a new swingarm, in addition to many other new elements, which made his second day busy.

Finally, he worked on electronics and tires today, before concluding his test in a positive way. “I feel really good on the bike, it gets better every day”, he explained. “This morning I tried the new soft tire, but I finally improved my time without it, which is positive. We found some good things during this test and we have great potential. I think we will reach another milestone in Qatar and we will be even closer to the front lines. It will be interesting to try the bike on a different circuit. »
