After three days of intensive Shakedown, the riders, as well as the henchmen of Pramac Racing are taking advantage of the pre-season tests in Sepang to perfect their knowledge of the M1s that Yamaha provides them as part of their new partnership. Things did not go too badly for Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira this Thursday, since the two representatives of the Iwata satellite team locked up a place in the top-10. A result that has triggered the Australian's enthusiasm.

Jack Miller is getting more and more familiar with the new machine he has in his hands. While Yamaha's M1 is different from the KTM he rode last year in every way, the #43 now has four days of experience and data to approach the final day of testing with confidence.

After focusing on his race pace, he detected weaknesses in the fast lap exercise, something he hopes to correct on the third day of official testing in Sepang.

“It was a good day for us. I’m getting more and more comfortable, I probably went out a little early in the afternoon for the quick lap, and we still have some work to do in the electronics department to find the right maps for time attack, confides Jack Miller after Day 2. But apart from that I'm pretty happy with the overall performance. I also did a sprint race in the morning with used tyres and I was pretty happy with the pace and the behaviour of the bike."

“It was interesting to see the tires go up a little bit more pressure than we had anticipated, but it's good to understand these things so early, He continues. I feel more and more comfortable every time I take to the track. We have been very busy these days trying new parts, the guys have been working hard every night to build new bikes with everything Yamaha has brought us, and I want to thank them for their huge work.

It is still time to analyze every aspect of his new bike, and the riding sessions are full of good and bad surprises. Fortunately for the Aussie, the bad ones have become rarer during the discovery of the Yamaha.

“We have a clear direction to take, obviously every new thing has advantages and disadvantages, and we are working hard to minimise the disadvantages and maximise the advantages. As for my riding style, of course I had to change it a little bit, but not massively. I am discovering that with the Yamaha you have to be patient, especially in time trials, you have to try to maximise your strengths, you just have to trust it, but I feel like we can close the gap a little bit more.” concludes Jack Miller.

The Pramac rider is showing great enthusiasm for the future of his team’s project. It will be interesting to see how each Yamaha rider fares between Sepang and Buriram, as all four of the Japanese factory’s representatives have the advantage of having taken part in last week’s Shakedown. At the upcoming pre-season test in Thailand, no team will have previous experience with a 2025 machine.
