Shakedown testing for the MotoGP season has kicked off in Malaysia, with several teams and riders taking part at the Sepang International Circuit. The additional three days of Shakedown testing allow test drivers, rookies and “D” concession teams to prepare before the official season tests.
Drivers at Shakedown include rookie Peter Acosta from Red Bull GASGAS Tech3, as well as the test drivers Stefan bradl et Takumi Takahashi (Sling), Michele Pirro (Dozens), Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia), Cal Crutchlow (yamaha), Pol Espargaro et Dani Pedrosa (KTM).
But the new “concessions” regulations grant advantages to teams that occupied the lowest position in 2023, which applies to Honda et Yamaha at the start of the 2024 season. The official drivers of these teams, including fabio quartararo, can therefore join this Shakedown, before the official tests which will take place from 6 at 8 February, where all drivers will be on track to prepare for the upcoming season.
Honda and Aprilia have already revealed new aerodynamic features at Sepang
An opportunity which was not seized this Thursday which ended with a better time achieved by Dani Pedrosa on his KTM, followed by his distinguished colleague Peter Acosta. It should be noted that the 2024 prototypes have been aligned in particular by Honda et Aprilia which revealed aerodynamic developments at the stern which were more than noticed.
