Marc Marquez

Marc Márquez is waiting to validate his physical condition at the Thailand test before considering re-signing with Ducati for two years.

It’s Marc Márquez He was not at his best and rode on the Buriram circuit today, but still managed to finish with the second fastest time. The nine-time World Champion started the day feeling unwell, which was far from ideal for testing the strength of his shoulder. He also suffered two crashes, fortunately without serious consequences.

“Today, from the moment I woke up, I knew it was going to be a difficult day because I had stomach problems. I started the day in the worst possible way, with that crash in the last corner on the second lap when I touched the white line. Everyone then noticed that the white lines were very slippery and that there was a problem with the paint, but little by little, the rubber built up and the situation improved.”, he said during his debriefing.

"The second fall was my fault, a moment of inattention. I was really very tired today because of my stomach problems, I wasn't focused enough, and it's true that at midday I regained some energy."

Just like his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, number 93 will have to finalize the motorcycle he will compete with this season, but seems confident about this choice, even though he will continue his tests tomorrow. While the Italian surprised everyone by declaring that his future would be announced soon, Marc Márquez He has not yet confirmed the renewal of his contract with Ducati, which he had previously mentioned.

When questioned about this, he was clear: no decision will be made until he feels 100% fit. “We’re working on it with Ducati. The contract with them is for two years, otherwise we’d be in limbo. For now, the most important thing for me was to start the pre-season feeling better and better, and I feel like I’ve made a small step forward between the test in Malaysia and here.”, did he declare.

“We’ll see if my physical condition continues to improve, and if I feel I can make some progress with my shoulder tomorrow, a two-year contract wouldn’t be a problem for me. As I always say, and it’s what I’ve learned, when you’re injured, you can’t make any decisions or sign any contracts. For me, the priority has been understanding my new injury, what it is, and I feel like it’s progressing well. There’s still work to be done, but we’re on the right track, and we’re working positively with Ducati.”
