Mandalika

This last day in Indonesia ended prematurely for part of the MotoGP paddock who only spent half a day working on the Mandalika track before packing up before the checkered flag was lowered. The others continued unabated, notably with race simulations. However, before the Grand Prix on March 20, certain things will have to be reviewed. The next meeting in the category is now set for March 6 in Qatar for the launch of the season.

The off-season is over in MotoGP which thus enters its weapons vigil. HAS Mandalika, some teams had already decided not to return to the track this afternoon in order to organize the return to Europe. This was the case of VR46 Racing Team but also Suzuki and Gresini Ducati. Among the men of Hamamatsu, we regretted the absence of Joan Mir who explained his situation thus:

« This morning when I woke up, I felt something strange in my stomach, like everything was moving. After breakfast I went to the track, but once there in the box I started to feel a lot worse and started vomiting. Then the doctor came in to try to help me, but I eventually had to go back to the hotel because I was completely exhausted. My physical condition stopped me today, I didn't have the strength to get on the bike and it also affected our work plan. I felt really bad but these things happen and finally I have good information from the first and second day of testing. I think we will arrive fully ready for the first race in Qatar despite all the inconveniences we have found over the last two days here in Mandalika ».

Honda leaves Mandalika in the lead, Quartararo fails by 14 thousandths

On the track, Johann zarco carried out a real racing simulation, and Marc Marquez then imitated him. Jack Miller fell at turn 11. Jorge Martin had to leave his Ducati at turn 9. No problem for the rider, but undoubtedly a technical problem on his GP22. All drivers on track tested medium or hard tires. And this is how this 2022 MotoGP off-season ends, with a Pol Espargaro leader who seems to announce a new era at Honda...
