Peter Acosta

After a crash in the Australian Sprint Race that seriously affected his left shoulder, Pedro Acosta is preparing to tackle the Thailand Grand Prix this weekend. The GasGas rookie rider is still struggling with the pain, but he remains determined to test his fitness on the Buriram track before making a decision on whether to participate in the full weekend.

Peter Acosta was forced to abandon the Australian Grand Prix after being declared unfit due to his shoulder injury. However, his condition has since improved thanks to intensive physiotherapy. Speaking ahead of the MotoGP Grand Prix in Thailand, the young pilot gave an update on his physical condition: “ I feel much better. I've had a few days with a lot of physio and work off the track, and things have improved a lot. »

The examinations carried out in Australia revealed a partial ligament rupture, a serious injury but which, according to Acosta, has seen notable progress in recent days. Pain will be the limit " he said, adding that he would not need surgery. The good thing is that I can move without pain. It hurts especially when I touch it. »

Pedro Acosta: “ It's definitely not the best time. But that's how it is, we'll see how I can handle the weekend »

Despite this improvement, the situation remains delicate for Acosta, especially in the middle of a three-race series MotoGP consecutive. He admits that the injury came at a bad time: " It's definitely not the best time. But that's how it is, these things happen. We'll see how I can handle the weekend. »

For the time being, Acosta will focus on free practice, after which he will consult with doctors and his team to decide if he is fit to continue. The Spaniard remains optimistic about his chances in Buriram, however, recalling his teammate's performance. Brad Binder on this circuit last season: " It's a track with lots of braking and acceleration, which might help us. Let's see how the weekend goes.. »

Although it is not yet certain that he will be able to run, Acosta is ready to give his all and hopes that the pain will not be an insurmountable obstacle.
