Pecco Bagnaia claimed his supremacy by taking pole position at the Thailand Grand Prix. The Ducati rider set a perfect lap, setting a new circuit record of 1'28.700. He will be joined on the front row by his teammate Enea Bastianini and by his great rival for the title Jorge Martin, who crashed at the end of the session.

Pecco Bagnaia achieved a feat by taking pole position at the Thailand Grand Prix, the 18th round of the 2024 MotoGP, at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram. The Piedmontese Ducati rider set a new track record with a blistering time of 1'28.700, leaving his teammate Enea Bastianini 0.232 seconds behind him. The front row will be completed by the Ducati Pramac of George Martin, who fell in his attempt to improve his time, without any notable injuries to the "Martinator".

This pole position marks 22nd for Bagnaia in the premier category and the 29th of his career, while for Ducati, it is the 14th pole of the season and the 102nd in MotoGP.

Marco Bezzecchi, from VR46 Racing Team, set the fourth fastest time and will open the second row, followed by Marc Marquez, who also fell at the third corner without consequences. Despite this incident, the eight-time world champion will start in a good position, fifth on the grid.

fabio quartararo, the 2021 MotoGP champion, made a brilliant comeback from Q1 and showed signs of competitiveness by qualifying in sixth position, with a sensational save in Q1 when the front end of his YZR-M1 closed up.

The third line will be made up of the rookie's KTM RC16 Peter Acosta, as well as the Ducati GP23 of Fabio DiGiannantonio andAlex Marquez. In the fourth row, we will find the Aprilia RS-GP of Maverick Vinales, the Ducati GP24 Factory of Franco Morbidelli and the Honda RC213V of Johann zarco.

Sadly, Brad Binder failed to get past Q1 and will start from 13th position, followed by Aleix Espargaró, Jack Miller, Augusto Fernandez, Alex Rins, Takaaki Nakagami, Joan Mir, Raul Fernandez, Luca Marini et Lorenzo Savadori, which replaces again Miguel Oliveira on the Aprilia Trackhouse Racing.

The pit exit is imminent...in 15 minutes it's the start...

A top 5 for Quartararo today?? What about Zarco who will start from 12th position?? The French fans are here!!!

Grid...

Drivers will have to complete 13 laps

The reigning world champion is ready, he seems calm.

In concentration mode…Martin..

Warm-up lap!!

Here we go and it's Bagnaia who comes out in front ahead of Martin and Bastianini. But it's Bastianini who turns in front ahead of Bagnaia..MMarquez, Acosta and Martin complete the top 5: touch between MMarquez and Martin which relegates him to 5th position.

Bagnaia seems to have moved on the starting grid...no flying start reported...

After 2 laps, Bastianini widens the gap on Bagnaia: 0.854s: behind, MMarquez comes back like a cannonball followed by Martin, Acosta, AMarquez, Binder, Morbidelli, Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi

Acosta falls and returns to the track.

Martin gets rid of MMarquez, he recovers 3rd position…target Bagnaia now…

The leader, Bastianini, is at the forefront with a 1.130s lead over his teammate.

With 7 laps to go, Martin made his effort and passed Bagnaia to gain 2nd position...he was nevertheless called back due to track limits.

There are 5 laps left to complete and the top10 is made up of: Bastianini (1.527S), Martin, Bagnaia, MMarquez, AMarquez, Binder, Morbidelli, Di Giannantonio, Bezzecchi and Quartararo

Abandonment for Acosta

The gap between Martin and Bagnaia is maintained..0.282s separate the 2 riders…the Ducati rider does not give up..2 laps still to hold for Le Martinator…!! The latter makes a gap but manages to recover without losing his position..

Last round !

Victory for Bastianini ahead of Martin and Bagnaia
