The Repsol Honda rider continues to suffer at the start of the weekend in Thailand, but hopes to be able to progress in the standings tomorrow.

Jorge Lorenzo has now found the two tracks on which it all started a year ago. The negative spiral from which he has still not emerged today began with a fall in Aragón which caused him to dislocate his big toe and fracture his second metatarsal. Two weeks later, on the Buriram track, a heavy fall during FP2 put an end to his weekend with an injury to his left forearm.

A year later, the Majorcan once again took to the track on both circuits, and after a complicated weekend in Spain, things do not look any easier in Thailand since he was at the bottom of the ranking. First 19th at the end of FP1 this morning, almost two seconds behind the leader, he progressed this afternoon in terms of his time, closing in by three tenths, but moving to 20th place in the standings.

Positions once again far from his usual results, but the Honda driver remains optimistic for qualifying tomorrow, satisfied with his day: “This morning I was quite happy with what we did because we completed a lot of laps with good pace. This afternoon we changed the settings, but it didn't work as well as we wanted with the higher temperatures. In the end our position is not excellent but our gap with the drivers at the front is not so bad. »

However, he will have to take a step forward tomorrow if he wants to try to get closer in the race on Sunday. The objective is therefore clear: “Finish less than a second behind the leaders. »
