The Suzuki rider confirmed his good weekend testing in the race, and leaves Thailand with one of his best results of the season.

Joan mir truly achieved a Grand Prix opposite to that of his teammate. If Álex Rins was not at his best during the weekend and only really revealed himself in the race, he showed great consistency throughout the free practice sessions and qualifying for end with a resulting result.

In the top 10 since FP1 and qualified in eighth position, his second best qualification of the year after his top 5 in Assen, the Spaniard managed to maintain his place at the start. Behind Rins for the first ten laps of the race, he imitated the latter when he overtook Valentino Rossi and thus took seventh position. However, he was unable to follow him any further and thus ended his race in this place.

This is his second best result of the season, tied with his seventh place at the Sachsenring and following his sixth position in Barcelona. The Suzuki driver therefore seems to have fully recovered from his injury, even if it inevitably weakened him: “I struggled a bit with the heat today as my fitness continued to be tested after missing out on training while injured. But I'm delighted to bring home this seventh place. »

“I'm really happy with the work we did this weekend. We are constantly getting closer to the leading drivers” he added. Now heading to Japan, Suzuki's home event and which will therefore be very important for Mir: “The atmosphere in Motegi is special, I want to do well there and reach a new milestone. »
