Confirming its current good trend, Luca marini immediately showed himself at ease during the first day of the Thai Grand Prix.

Riding his Ducati Desmosedici GP22, the Mooney VR46 Racing Team rider set the 4th fastest time in FP1 in the morning, in 1'30.621, less than a tenth of a second from the fastest, Marc Márquez. In the afternoon, the Italian managed to make a very small improvement in 1'30.594, again obtaining 4th place in the session but dropping to 7th place in the combined ranking. However, he is only three tenths behind the very first drivers.

Luca marini : " A productive Friday: Given the weather forecast for the weekend, we worked hard and gathered as much information as possible on the tires for the race. Let's go back to the data now to take a step forward in FP3: on the weather attack, I have room for improvement, but a lot will depend on the weather. »

Paul Grandson : " A good Friday of free practice for the whole team, considering that our riders are both MotoGP beginners on this circuit. Luca confirms to be as one of the strongest drivers with two excellent performances between FP1 and FP2, while Marco took a little longer to get the right confidence with this very particular type of asphalt, the weather conditions and the temperature. We are not far from the strongest guys and we can take another step tomorrow. »

As for the incident with Fabio Quartararo, The brother of Valentino Rossi obviously has someone to take from when it comes to handling the little sentences...

Luca marini : " I followed him to learn the lines, because I had never raced here with a MotoGP and because he is also close to me in the garage and it is easier to start with him. But it was nothing special. I tried to understand his trajectories, how he rides here because in 2019, in my opinion, he was the best. His driving style was really perfect during the race and he just lacked a bit of tire management compared to Marc in my opinion. In the last five laps, Marc had something more. But that was just it. In free practice it matters less, but he should worry more about qualifying when Marquez attacks. »
