To renovate the famous Tio Pepe tower which dominates the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, three projects were selected and submitted to a popular vote last July (see here).
Finally, it was “Jerez-Xerez-Sherry”, an idea presented by Tomás Osborne and José Carlos Oliva, which won the first prize, based on several types of criteria such as the repair and maintenance of the structure, its viability economical, its architectural quality, its uniqueness, its representativeness and its integration into the environment.
No work date has yet been brought forward, since, from now on, project managers have two months to develop the idea further, before the site is awarded to a project manager.
The idea of inaugurating the new cladding of the tower for the 2018 Grand Prix, on May 6, still remains possible but is not certain, especially since the total cost of the project should not exceed 325 euros.
