Considered one of the hottest GPs of the season, Thailand should be even hotter in 2020, with its advancement in the year, and could go dark within a few years.

Next year, the MotoGP calendar will feature two major changes: the arrival of the Finnish Grand Prix in July and the moving of the Thai Grand Prix from October to March. The Buriram stage will thus become the second round of the season, just after the start in Qatar. Gone, therefore, is the overseas tour of more than a month, as had been the case since last year. The three consecutive GPs of Japan, Australia and Malaysia will remain on the same dates, but their neighbor will leave.

In any case, changes will surely be expected, because the weather is expected to do its thing and put the drivers but also the tires to the test, since it is even hotter in Thailand in March than in October... A local media outlet has speculated that the race will take place at night, like in Qatar, which is not unthinkable given that the circuit is starting to equip itself with what it needs to be able to operate in this way. This would also be a plus for the public, who would attend the Grand Prix in good conditions, rather than staying for hours in the oppressive heat.

But for the moment, this hypothesis is not envisaged for next year, as a member of Dorna confirmed to crash.net, which however does not exclude it for the future: “It's not planned for 2020. It could be an idea for the future, but not for next season. They have to install all the equipment and that means time and money. »

As a reminder, the Thai Superbike round took place in March this year, and the exterior and track temperatures were 4 to 5 degrees higher than in MotoGP.
