After 3 years of good and loyal service, Luca Cadalora has decided to retire from the role of official coach of Valentino Rossi. In this case, there is no quarrel between the two men, but simply the very legitimate desire to take a well-deserved rest with the family on the part of the 55-year-old ex-transalpine pilot.

Valentino Rossi : “Unfortunately, we tried to keep Cadalora for the next 2 years but he politely refused. It was a very good experience and we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately we are losing Lucas, but I am sure he will come back to see us.”

Luca Cadalora : “I decided to take a break. I had three intense and wonderful years. It was a fantastic experience with Vale. An extraordinary champion, not only as a driver, but also as a person, which allowed me to last 3 years: a surprise for me and for him (laughs). I hope that the friendship we have created will last forever, on both sides. The MotoGP championship is very long, there are many races, while I have 2 daughters at home and many hobbies that have faded into the background.”

Agreeing on their common experience, the two men are also in agreement on who should take over the role of coach from 2, namely the Spaniard Idalio Gavira who was already taking on the same role for the Sky VR46 team.

The man was already present at the Jerez test, the first day together with Lucas Cadalora, the second, alone at the controls.

Luca Cadalora : “I think he can make a contribution, as I have done in recent years.”

“Idalio was there because he works for the Riders Academy and he is also a coach for the Sky team. We still have to see how to do it but we haven't made a decision yet." then confided Valentino Rossi.

Idalio Gavira, born February 10, 1971 in Cádiz, had a single (short) season in the 250 cc Grand Prix in 1997 after being crowned European Superbike champion in 1996, before reappearing in the paddock as sporting director of the Laglisse team in 2015, then Sky VR 46 since 2016 where we talk about Robert Locatelli to replace him.
