Even if he is not World Champion this year, the Spanish rider made a good comeback in Valencia and is still in the running to offer Suzuki a world double.

Alex Rins gave everything but he could not prevent his teammate Joan Mir from winning the title of World Champion this afternoon on the Valencia circuit. It must be said that the chances of Mir failing were slim since he had a 37-point lead. He only needed to keep 26 to win the Grail and that's what he did.

“In the end I wasn't able to win the title but I'm really happy for Joan and for the whole Suzuki team! » did he declare. “It's amazing that he won the championship in only his second year, and the whole team worked really hard to win it. The emotion is incredible, even for me. »

However, Rins was not unworthy and can still hope to finish vice-world champion and thus offer a double to Suzuki. With only four points behind Franco Morbidelli, anything is possible. But even if they are a little far away, he will also have to deal with Maverick Viñales, Andrea Dovizioso and Fabio Quartararo. The Portuguese Grand Prix will be crucial next week, but for now the number 42 has done the job in Valencia.

Qualified only 14th, he made an excellent start and had already gained seven places in the first lap. He then recovered slowly throughout the race to finish fourth. Even if he didn't manage to get on the podium like last week, he had a solid race:

“Today Franco [Morbidelli] had great pace and fourth is the best I could do but I'm still in the fight for second place in the championship so I'm happy with the result. I hope to finish the season on top in Portimão! »
