The Ducati rider saved the furniture by securing another eighth place and hopes to finish with a positive result next week in Portimão.

This end of the season definitely has a bitter taste for Andrea Dovizioso. If the Italian manages to save the furniture in the race, he is no longer in the running for victory, nor for the podium, and must be content with positions beyond the top 5. He who could hope to benefit from the absence of Marc Márquez to finally win this title which he lacks must accept this mixed season. Nevertheless sporting, he wanted to send his congratulations to the new World Champion: “I would like to congratulate Joan Mir on his first MotoGP title because he 100% deserves it! »

Despite a victory in Austria and a podium in Jerez, Dovizioso and Ducati in general continued to encounter difficulties. With their separation very close which will occur at the end of the next Grand Prix, the hope of finishing with one last good race in a week in Portimão nevertheless remains.

Because Dovizioso proved today that he had the pace to run much more at the front, if only he had qualified better. Starting from the sixth row, he managed to move up to eighth place and did much better than Danilo Petrucci or Francesco Bagnaia, who started ahead of him. “I'm quite happy with today's result considering I started from 17th place on the grid”, did he declare.

“We could have done more as Jack Miller was able to finish on the podium with his Ducati but unfortunately I had a problem with my left half handlebar in the last laps and I was not able to ride as I wanted it. »

Now tied on points with Fabio Quartararo in the Championship and 17 points behind second, Franco Morbidelli, the place of vice-world champion looks complicated, but still possible: “I'm disappointed because now the fight for second place in the championship is becoming more difficult, but there is still one race and we will fight until the end. »
