The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team traveled directly from Portimão, Portugal to Valencia, Spain to conclude the 2021 MotoGP season at this weekend's grand finale, the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Fabio Quartararo is particularly eager to get back on his YZR-M1 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. Disappointed that his previous outing ended in a blank result, the first this year, he intends to take his revenge this weekend and end the season in style.

The 2021 MotoGP world champion would like nothing better than to please his fans by matching or bettering the second place he achieved here in 2019 in the MotoGP class (his best result in Valencia), and that would be the icing on the cake if he could also help the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team overcome the 28-point deficit in the teams' championship, which widened in Portugal.

We remember that last year in Valencia, The Devil had crashed in reaction to Aleix Espargaró's loss of control, then restarted to finish 14th and last, prey to an erratic start device during the first race at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. During the second, a week later, the Niçois fell alone and was forced to abandon.

These are therefore two bad memories that the French driver will be keen to erase this Sunday, on a 4 kilometer circuit which runs counter-clockwise, which will welcome 75 spectators and whose record still belongs to Jorge Lorenzo since 2016.

fabio quartararo : " We didn't really exploit our full potential in Portimão, so I'm looking forward to getting back out there and doing better in Valencia. This weekend I'm going to focus a little more on getting a good position in qualifying. This will already make a big difference to the race. It's not easy to overtake in Valencia, so the higher up the grid we are, the better. I really want to enjoy this race because it's the last GP of the season, and I want to finish it with a good result. I also want to help my team. There is always a chance to win the team title, which gives me extra motivation to work hard in every session. »

Massimo Meregalli : " It's already the last race of the 2021 season. The second half of the season seems to have flown by. Valencia is traditionally a special event as it is usually the last Grand Prix of the season. This is our last moment to greet the fans and entertain them before we begin winter testing for 2022. We want to end the year on a good note. We set ourselves a simple goal: We want to give the fans one last thrilling race and score as many points as possible, and as a result, we might even secure the 2021 team title. It's a tall order, but we are a team that will fight until the end.  »
