This Thursday, November 11, 2021, Luca marini answered questions from journalists from the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Cheste (Valencia), as a prelude to the Valencian Community Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the Italian driver, currently 18th in the championship.

As usual, we report here the words of Luca marini without the slightest formatting.

Luca, this is the last race of your first season in MotoGP. How do you look back on your first year in the premier category?

« I think it's been a good season, positive, although not incredible in terms of pure results. But for me it was a wonderful experience, a dream come true, and I couldn't have asked for anything better. But now I have to focus on improving myself, working well with my new team for next year, and just trying to get the results I'm aiming for. »

« It's as simple as that. But again I think it was a very positive first season. I learned a lot and I had a lot of fun, and I approached MotoGP in the best possible way, which remains a world apart, very different from everything I had known until then. »

How will you cope with no longer traveling from Grand Prix to Grand Prix with Valentino next year?

« It will be strange next year. Strange to no longer travel with my brother, to no longer share the track and the paddock with him, strange to no longer stay in his motorhome watching another sport in the evening, like a Formula 1 race or even a Serie match. A. We are going to lose a real reference in the paddock. »

« All the drivers from the Academy used to meet at his motorhome, sometimes even without asking him because we now have the access code! It's a place where we all really used to meet up whenever we had a free minute. It's going to be strange, but I'm sure he'll continue to follow us a lot and we'll stay in touch. His presence will always be precious, and I think that the stands will still display a lot of yellow in the coming years. »

“The Valentino motorhome was a place where all the drivers from the Academy used to meet”

How difficult is this weekend going to be?

« Honestly, I'm approaching this weekend exactly like all the others. I try not to think about it and stay fully focused on my Grand Prix. There are a lot of things to do when you're a MotoGP rider, so you can't afford to spread yourself too thin. I hope that after the race we will have a good time together, I will try to experience this as closely as possible with him. »

« But for the rest I will work hard like any other weekend. Besides, I think it will be the same for Valentino: he will approach this event as usual. For him it will just be another weekend, another Grand Prix. When you work you always have to stay very focused, and he will have plenty of time to think about that once the weekend is over. »

During the summer break, you finished the first part of the season very tired. Do you feel better now after the second part of the championship?

« Honestly, I feel good, much better in any case. It's a good question because I remember that during the summer break I was really very tired. I really needed to rest and I needed this break. Now I feel good, besides I don't want to stop my training and break the current dynamic in December because I think we don't have much time to prepare well for the next season. »

« In the end with the Christmas holidays, you already lose a lot of days. So I plan to work hard throughout the month in order to progress in the areas where I need it most. I have a lot of energy now, and I think it's important to be able to start the next season in good conditions. »
