This Sunday, November 14, 2021, Franco Morbidelli answered questions from journalists from the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Cheste (Valencia), at the end of the Valencian Community Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the Italian-Brazilian driver, who finished the race this Sunday in 11th position, in the wheel of Valentino Rossi.

As usual, we report here the words of Franco Morbidelli without the slightest formatting.

Franco, Valencia marked the end of a pretty crazy and difficult season for you. Winter will see you finally fully don the clothes of an official Yamaha rider. We imagine you can't wait to see you next year...

« It's true that it was a bit of a crazy season, with a lot of ups and downs, and more downs than ups. But the last race we led was good, so we leave this season with a light heart and with a lot of hope for next year. »

« Now it's mostly a matter of understanding in Jerez what we need for 2022. Jerez is a clockwise circuit, so that should make my job easier. I also hope to continue my recovery during the winter, and thus present myself well prepared for next year. »

“It was a season with more downs than ups”

You spent most of the race behind Valentino Rossi... you must have appreciated that even though it was his last race in MotoGP?

« It was actually nice to do the whole race behind him. Before the race I told myself that I wanted to stay away from him as much as possible during the event so as not to be involved in any accident that might have occurred. But at one point I still found myself right behind him, and I told myself I was going to try to pass him. »

« But he was very fast and I couldn't do anything in the end. On reflection I was lucky to accompany him on his last laps in MotoGP. He was driving really well, and he even increased the pace in the last laps. It was clear that he was really enjoying these last moments of competition in MotoGP. »
