The Suzuki driver raised the bar somewhat during this Valencia Grand Prix and was thus able to conclude his 2019 season in a positive manner. However, he did not manage to take third place in the general classification.

Alex Rins will therefore be the fourth man in the Championship this year. Despite a rather solid weekend and a good race, he could not prevent Maverick Viñales from taking third place and lost it by six points.

However, the GP had started rather well since the Spaniard was in the top 10 at the end of the first day of free practice, but he did not manage to stay there in FP3 and therefore had to go through Q1 , from which he escaped. If his objective of qualifying among the first two rows has not yet been achieved, he came closer by starting eighth on the grid.

He then made a good comeback, but was never able to overtake Andrea Dovizioso and therefore had to settle for fifth place at the checkered flag. “It was difficult because I felt strong but not enough to fight with Dovizioso”, he commented. “His traction was a little better than mine in a straight line and I reached the limit when braking, I pushed as hard as possible to recover. »

“It was a good race, we finished ahead of Maverick. The goal was to try to finish in the top 3 in the Championship and I ultimately didn't succeed. This year has obviously been good, now we will continue to work and prepare for the next one! »
