Yamaha official Fabio Quartararo is realistic, but not fatalistic as he presents himself at the gates of a Ricardo Tormo track where he will play his last chance to retain his title this weekend. For that, he will not only have to win with a Yamaha that runs on last year's engine but also hope that Pecco Bagnaia does worse than 14th. However, there will be eight Ducatis on the track and, last year, there were three of them to get on the podium... But the Frenchman, despite his technical deficit, will, whatever happens, be beaten until the last round …

fabio quartararo has a heavy task ahead of him. It must fill a gap of 23 points to take first place in the drivers' standings, meaning he can only win the championship if he finishes first and his main rival scores no points or no more than one. However, the Frenchman is determined to continue providing 100% of his potential to achieve the impossible, because it is well known that the impossible is not French... The World Champion MotoGP 2021 has already conquered second place in Valencia in 2019, which is its best result so far, and hopes to go one place better this weekend… After all, a Yamaha can do it since, in 2020, his current teammate Franco Morbidelli had materialized in what is the second race due to the health crisis.

« We had a good race in Malaysia, I really enjoyed it, and it was good to be back on the podium »Comments fabio quartararo in this vigil of arms. “ Winning the championship will be very difficult now. Of course I will give my 100% as always, but I'm not going to insist too much on the title of champion. It's the last Grand Prix of the season, and I want to take advantage of it and finish it with a good result » he adds.

Yamaha: “ we won't lose hope until the checkered flag is lowered ! "

His team manager Massimo Meregalli declares for his part: “ after two long stages abroad, we are back in Europe. It's already the last race of the season! We started 2022 thinking that 20 GPs would be very long, but everything went incredibly fast. We know that obtaining the title will be difficult. The only way would be if Fabio wins and our rival doesn't score any points. It's not an easy task, of course, but we won't give up hope until the checkered flag is lowered! ».

« Our fighting spirit remains high and we will do our best this weekend. I also expect Franky to start this Grand Prix at the same level as he finished the last one. He took a big step in Malaysia: his race pace was strong, but his race result was compromised by the double long lap penalty. I can't wait to see him fight more forward this weekend » adds the Italian.

The final word therefore goes to the Italian-Brazilian: “ We had a good weekend overall in Malaysia. It's a shame that the long lap penalties pushed me back, because my pace was good. This gave my team and I an extra boost for this weekend in Valencia. It's not an easy track though, and in fact completely different to Sepang. But we will do our best to maintain the positive trajectory and end the season on a good note ».
