The Yamaha rider placed second on the first day of testing and is very satisfied with the work done so far.
The first day of the first winter tests ended yesterday at the Valencia track, and the Yamahas seemed in great shape as Fabio Quartararo, Maverick Vinales and Franco Morbidelli finished at the top of the standings.
With much milder temperatures than those encountered during the Grand Prix and plenty of sunshine, the weather was ideal for testing the first elements of 2020. As for the official Yamaha clan, Viñales was very satisfied with the work carried out and is thus placed less than two tenths from Quartararo's best time.
“For me this test has been very good so far because I have worked a lot on my riding style and my rhythm, and it seems that we have progressed”, he explained. “Today the grip was pretty good, so maybe we have to keep in mind that we still have some work to do on that when there's not a lot of grip, but I felt very good on the bike. We mainly worked on reducing the degradation of the rear tire and we worked really well. I had excellent pace during the last few laps of a race distance with one of the tires and this is a key element for our work tomorrow. »
“The prototypes are good, I’m very happy”, He said. “We are taking the bike in the right direction and that is the most important thing. We are trying to save some tires for tomorrow, because then we will try to put in better settings. Today we just rode with the hard tire and I felt very good. We will know more tomorrow. »
