On Monday May 4, pilots of “national interest” are authorized to return to the track for “training”. Two weeks later, the Italian circuits plan to reopen for everyone.

Italian circuits are preparing to reopen. According to the latest government decree, pilots of national interest are authorized to resume their training from Monday May 4. It means that Valentino Rossi and his colleagues are allowed to return to the track, on any Italian track. “ Pilot of national interest » could concern many: let's say from MotoGP to CIV, perhaps even below, including young talents in entry categories. Two weeks later, that is to say from May 18, the national tracks could again host free driving days also reserved for amateurs, perhaps respecting the current traffic limit in their own region. Certain procedural points remain to be clarified, because the DCPM is not clear on several points. But the possibility of the green light coming on for the installations exists.

Jungle to clear
Today, the leaders of different circuits met by videoconference to define a common line of action. The reopening of the tracks would give a very important signal of revival to the movement: we are in May, the 2020 season, on the track and concerning the transfer window, is not yet compromised. We could start again, obviously hoping that the contagion continues to decrease.

Italian teams immediately on the circuits?
As for professional pilots, the situation is clear: they can return to training from Monday May 4. But the teams are also on the move. Some teams in the Italian Superbike Championship (CIV) are organizing a collective test, which could take place in Misano at the end of May. All this to prepare for the opening of the CIV, which could take place by June, probably in Mugello. We are obviously talking about events behind closed doors. But even so, it would be a very important signal. We are getting back on track, perhaps sooner than we had hoped. We must now cross our fingers, obviously respecting the instructions on social distancing to the letter. On a motorbike, it won't be difficult...
