Like all the teams participating in the 2020 MotoGP World Championship, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team is delighted to publication of the new calendar which will include a minimum of 13 and a maximum of 17 Grands Prix.

There's just over a month left until the first race and, until then, Valentino Rossi should have made up his mind about his future: retirement or Petronas?

Reading his reaction to the announcement of the calendar, there seems little doubt…

Valentino Rossi : “I think everyone feels great emotion after seeing the updated 2020 calendar, because it's a bit of a relief for the whole team and also for the fans. The lockdown was a serious and strange situation, but it worked, and I think in the end it made us all appreciate running even more. I really missed driving my M1. It will be interesting to see where we stand, as it's been a while since we last tested. We will definitely try our best to be in front again and give the fans a reason to cheer us on. »

Maverick Vinales : “The announcement of the update of the 2020 calendar is excellent news! This is something we've all been waiting for for a long time, especially the fans. I think they love the sport just as much as we runners do, so they must have missed watching it. Of course, I am very excited to ride my M1 again and meet my team. It's been a long time since we last tested in Qatar. It will be a year like no other and it will be strange to ride without fans present at the track, at least for now. But I'm going to do my best to make sure we put on a good show every round to entertain the fans watching at home. »

Massimo Meregalli : “The wait is finally over!” I think the announcement of an updated 2020 calendar is good news for all MotoGP fans – just as much as it is for us, the team members and our riders. The temporary halt to motorsport activity was, of course, crucial and the right thing to do, and we all had to play our part in the battle against Covid-19, but now we can look forward to better times . But that doesn't mean that MotoGP will be 100% the same as before. We've been preparing for the start of the 2020 MotoGP season for weeks now at Yamaha Motor Racing headquarters, so we're ready to go, adhering to all the new health and safety regulations required. We will have a smaller team and we will work with mandatory personal protective equipment, including masks and face shields. The races will also be strange without the fans on track as we will definitely miss them, but I think we can all agree that it's great to finally be able to watch the drivers in action again! »
