Maverick Viñales is the man of radical decisions as far as he is concerned. Last year, he wanted to make a clean slate by completely renewing his team and even putting an end to part of his career by changing his number. A challenge which brought him to third place in this 2019 season marked by two victories. But it's still not enough for the Yamaha official who decided to settle in Qatar this winter to become a different man. Explanation…

Maverick Vinales has a positive end to the year. His last part of the season was encouraging as he started the off-season with a bang by taking the best performances both Valencia that Jerez. He could now rest and recharge his batteries before returning to action in February, the month when MotoGP returns to Sepang. But instead of lazing around, here he is embarking on a new project.

He chose to experience this adventure in Qatar. A move that is not entirely a surprise. From the end of April, Maverick Vinales announced that he would work with the Qatar Motorsports Academy to promote the young hopes of the desert. But the Spaniard pushed the project a little further. Driven by his enthusiasm, he decided to spend the winter in Qatar.

The 24-year-old pilot explains his idea and his ambitious objective in this unprecedented winter preparation: “ I think I need to take a step forward, physically and mentally. In Qatar, I saw the Qatar Motorsports Academy facilities at the start of the season, and I was impressed. I spoke to the ringmaster and they opened the gates for me. I was thinking about the possibility of cycling in winter, because you have to train indoors in Europe at that time. That's why I decided to move to Doha when there is snow in Andorra. »

« I organized everything and was able to train with the management of the Qatar Motorsports Academy. I have to say it's incredibly good. There are also very experienced pilots who can help you. Most of them are former Grand Prix drivers, which means they are fast and I need drivers to push me » adds the teammate Valentino Rossi. « We are not perfect. We must improve every day. Every day, every turn, you must improve yourself in this world. For me, being at the Qatar Motorsports Academy is about improving, again and again, day after day. It's my goal. »

« We also work with Aspire. It is a state-of-the-art training academy with incredible facilities and world-class professionals. I think I can take another step physically and mentally »Insists Casa Particular in Viñales on speedweek. " I think I have a chance at Aspire to work with a very specific training program that is linked to what we do when we ride a MotoGP. »

Maverick Vinales ends by identifying room for improvement concerning him. “ I am able to stay calm when we go through difficult times. This is the kind of advice that will help me improve my life… Not just as a runner, but also in private. »
