The last inspection before the next MotoGP test at the KymiRing took place on Monday July 1. Franco Uncini, FIM safety officer, Loris Capirossi, representative of Dorna race management, and Carlos Ezpeleta, senior director of Dorna Sporting put the Finnish officials on the grill. And here’s what came out…

A successful examination since all stakeholders were pleased with the safety standards respected, the configuration of the circuit and the progress of the work, which is progressing as planned. Minor changes have been agreed and a few more will be made after the test, with more experience gained from the first few laps.

The visit also provided an opportunity to fine-tune details for the track, such as the locations and lengths of FIM curbs and services for testing, such as flags, track marshals and doctors.

The President of the Finnish Motorcycling Federation, Tapio Nevala, and the circuit director KymiRing, Timo Pohjola, were pleased with the manner in which the inspection had been carried out.

Tapio Nevala, President of the Finnish Motorcycling Federation commented: “ we have had excellent feedback from security professionals and we continue to tour KymiRing one of the largest circuits in the world ».

As responsible for certification, Franco Uncini believes it will be a safe track, compliant with all current requirements, and a hit with the drivers. Loris Capirossi was also complimentary of the layout. He said it would be a challenge for his former colleagues after a few quick laps in the car.

Carlos Ezpeleta, Senior Director of Dorna Sporting added: “ The progress we saw was incredible and we believe the track will be ready for testing on August 19-20. The track layout is excellent and we hope it leads to some exciting racing. Everything seems to be going according to plan and we can't wait to see the first MotoGPs on track at KymiRing soon ».

The test teams of the manufacturers involved in MotoGP will go to the KymiRing From 19 to 20 August.
