Valentino Rossi's VR46 team was hoping to get two factory Ducati GP25 motorcycles for the 2025 MotoGP season. However, Ducati decided to reduce its supply of factory motorcycles, leading to disappointment for VR46. Team boss Alessio “Uccio” Salucci expressed his frustration with the decision, which contrasts with the strategy of rival brands like KTM and Yamaha.
Ducati has reorganized its MotoGP program to control costs, going from eight bikes in 2024 to six in 2025. Among these, only three will be GP25s, including two intended for the factory team and only one a priori for VR46. This reduction puts Ducati in a slightly disadvantageous position compared to, among others, KTM et Yamaha , which will provide four motorcycles identical to their respective teams.
Alessio salucci expressed his disappointment with this decision: “ I don't really agree with Dall'Igna, because we will only have one updated motorcycle, while I would have liked to have two like we always did. But unfortunately or fortunately, it is Ducati who decides, we will have one and we will make do with it"
Despite this discontent, VR46 is happy to have been chosen as the reference team of Ducati for 2025, succeeding Pramac. Salucci added : " we have a great team and awesome guys, we will never be a factory team because we don't build motorcycles, but when the pilots come, they find a fantastic situation. »
« Unfortunately or fortunately, it's Ducati who decides »
Then Uccio Salucci revealed : " same Gigi Dall'Igna congratulates us on the management. In fact, they chose us as the reference team, from 2025, because Pramac left, but Ducati had already chosen us for 2027 as a reference team, independently of Pramac"
