MotoGP vs F1 in e-Sport: Fabio Quartararo contains Pierre Gasly on Canal+

It was virtual football that the two drivers faced each other last night at the initiative of Canal+ as part of its FIFA 2020 e-Sport broadcast hosted by Hervé Mathoux and Laure Boulleau.

Confined, Pierre Gasly in Dubai and Fabio Quartararo in Andorra, the two friends in real life have few other resources to contain their frustration and their impatience to resume racing than to train physically and, incidentally, to have fun with online games.

fabio quartararo : “yes, yes, big frustration because we had already done the tests in Qatar and it went really well. We had three days to tune up the bike and we had a very good pace, but unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to do the first race. We can clearly see that we are in a pretty serious situation, so the most important thing is to stay safe, but I really hope for a recovery soon enough. I train a lot physically because it's the only thing to do at the moment, and I also play a lot of PlayStation. »

When it came to the game, the AlphaTauri driver had chosen the Paris Saint-Germain team and was the favorite against the Petronas driver who had opted for the Barça team but admitted to not being familiar with this game on PlayStation.

However, the MotoGP rider showed himself to be particularly clever by gradually taking advantage of the advice of Brian Savary, the coach of the French e-football team, to modify the composition of his virtual team, which allowed him to equalize the score after the first goal scored by Pierre Gasly.

Good-natured atmosphere during this virtual meeting which at least has the merit of existing to make us forget for half an hour the dark atmosphere which reigns on the planet at the moment.

fabio quartararo : “with Pierre, we’ve really known each other for a year and a half or two years. I'm a huge fan of Formula 1. We (both) have speed and we know very well what it's like to be at the limit. We have a lot in common on a sporting level, so there is a lot of respect. With Pierre, we have a friendship, so it's even cooler. »

Pierre Gasly : “to do that, motor sports, you have to be a fan of motor sports to begin with. Since I was little, I have been watching motorcycling, which I already followed Fabio when he was in Moto3 and more than once he drove me crazy in front of the TV because I was behind him to support him when he was already fighting ahead in Moto3. Afterwards, obviously, I followed him in Moto2 and then we had the chance to meet in the F1 paddocks. And now we get to see each other from time to time and meet up on the Play to tease each other a little. »

Today, the Petronas Yamaha rider celebrates his 21st birthday with, apparently, an original hairstyle…
