A surprise Yamaha wild card driven by Fabio Quartararo's impatience?
The test pilot Augusto Fernandez will be lined up as a wild card during the San Marino Grand Prix (September 12-14). Initially, Yamaha aimed for a first race run at Motegi, his home appointment, but the schedule has been brought forward: Misano will serve as a testing ground.
For its part, fabio quartararo confirmed that he too will ride the new M1 V4 from Monday post-race test in Misano. No official time has been released yet, and Yamaha keeps the prototype's performance a mystery.
If the potential is validated, the V4 engine will replace the traditional inline four-cylinder from the 2026 season. Until then, Yamaha will continue to juggle between future development and immediate competitiveness with the current M1.
The appointment is made: at Misano, the public will discover in real conditions the Yamaha V4, a project that could change the destiny of the brand in MotoGP.
